Dr. Franz Hütter is a German humanities and natural scientist with many years of experience in research, teaching, and corporate practice. His academic journey began with studies in language and literature, which shaped his passion for effective communication. He later earned a doctorate at the Medical Faculty of the University of Duisburg-Essen, researching the genetic determinants of empathy. In his dissertation, he explored how genetic factors influence the ability to empathize.
Professionally, Dr. Hütter held a senior position in communications for an IT company in the automotive industry for ten years. He then spent another ten years self-employed in the field of Learning & Development. Currently, he teaches Applied Cognitive Neuroscience at the Faculty of Business Psychology at the University of Applied Management. His special focus is on transdisciplinary knowledge transfer from the natural, social, and human sciences into the practice of learning and development.
As an author, Dr. Hütter has published several books and more than 60 professional articles. His works include:
"Strategic Neuroleadership. Volume 1: Concepts and Guidelines": Co-authored with Sandra Mareike Lang, this book offers concepts and guidelines for strategic neuroleadership.
"Change Happens – Designing Change in a Brain-Friendly Way": Created in collaboration with other authors, this work presents strategies for implementing organizational change in a neurobiologically sound and effective manner.
Dr. Hütter is the founder and director of the "Net of Brains" think tank, which serves as an incubator for innovation in Learning & Development. In 2022, it was awarded the German Demography Prize in the category “Bringing New Work to Life.” His work is dedicated to promoting scientific thinking and evidence-based methods in continuing education to strengthen future-relevant competencies such as complexity skills and self-directed learning.
